I Am…

 

I am versatile

When I talk

I don’t have to talk really loud

I can talk softly

However, my voice can be heard for many miles

I don’t have to put on a show

Like the girls on Girls Gone Wild

Like Luther Vandross

I only have to worry about

The Here and Now

I am calm

My personality soothes the raging heart

As calm as the Red Sea

That many centuries ago

Moses parted

 

So tranquil that

I have people amazed before I even start

 

I am powerful

The knowledge that I withhold is deadly

Some of my words

Are capable of beheading me

 

I embrace my heritage

For many are unable to see

The past, the pain

Which lead them to be

 

I am woman

I am versatile, calm, powerful and sweet

I bring the unity

For which you seek

I am a great listener

For I know you have a story to tell

 

I am courteous

And I mediate well

I know you know me

For there is one in every family

However, this is the only time

You really took a look at me
