A Life and Time Perspective

How do significant life events or the passage of time influence your perspective on life?

I truly believe who we are, is built upon our life experiences, good or bad. From those experiences, we either choose to allow those experiences to continue to influence us or we don’t.

This right here is a real life testimony. When I was 13 years old, I was almost raped. Being almost raped affected the majority of my life until I was about 26 years old. 13 years, I allowed this experience to affect my thoughts and my ability to push through the incident. I became more reserved, withdrawn, and fearful in a way. It wasn’t until I wrote My Poetic Soul Unleashed that I was able to unleash my story and this experience with it. As I became older, I realized the incident was not my fault. So many things ran through my head regarding things I could have done better. However, now I realize that my story is a testimony and I made it to see another day. There was nothing I could have done better.

Reading The Four Agreements in 2016 also assisted me with continuing to break down barriers and allowed me to rebuild myself based on my own values and perspectives. Often, we fail to realize that our upbringing, past interactions, and negative experiences from the past are still shaping our future. The positive is as well; however, probably not as much as the negative.

Life and time will always influence us, now whether we give it power is another story.
